The Board of Directors of The Collegiate School of Memphis is very pleased to announce that Dr. T. Durant Fleming is our new Head of School. Durant is a native Memphian who graduated from Christian Brothers High School.
After receiving his bachelor's degree from the University of Memphis in Communications he earned a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, a Doctor of Ministry from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Christian Brothers University. Durant was the Executive Pastor of Independent Presbyterian Church for over a decade where his responsibilities included preaching, teaching, pastoral duties, and overseeing a staff of thirty-five. During that time he helped lead that church through a major building campaign and oversaw a programming budget in excess of five million dollars. Durant left IPC to become a classroom teacher at Christian Brothers High School for six years, where he also played an integral part in the spiritual life of the school's Protestant students. He has taught at the graduate, collegiate and high school levels. For the past 6 months Durant has been a private school fellow of Building Excellent Schools in Boston, a consortium of skilled urban school educators, producing some of the highest performing urban schools in the nation.
Durant is wholeheartedly dedicated to seeing young Memphians well-educated and thoroughly equipped for college success. His passion for the lives of students, high academic achievement, urban education, and his seemingly endless energy will make him a great leader for Collegiate. We are particularly excited to announce that Durant will assume his duties after the New Year. Please join the Board in warmly welcoming Durant to our school.
Durant and wife Sharon of 25 years have three children -- Caroline, Carson, and Jake.
