Policies and Procedures
 
Vision
The vision of the Collegiate School of Memphis Library is to maximize the potential for college success for all scholars by emphasizing core values within a highly-structured, nurturing, Christian environment.
 
Mission
Our mission is to inspire and motivate scholars to expand their minds and broaden their world perspectives by deepening their understanding of cultural literature for academic, intellectual, and personal growth.
Our goals are:
·         To provide print and non-print resources to support curriculum needs to meet school, state, and national standards.
·         To encourage teacher collaboration for curriculum and program implementation for overall enrichment.
·         To promote Collegiate School of Memphis literacy development by encouraging academic, intellectual, and leisure reading among scholars.

Rules and Regulations
1.      Neither food nor drinks are permitted in the library unless given prior authorization by faculty and/or staff. 
2.      Time in the library should not be utilized during community time or class instruction unless given prior authorization by faculty and/or staff.
3.      Books or equipment should not be removed from the library without using proper checkout procedures.
 
Checkout & Return Policy
1.      Patron ID badges are required to check out a book. (This does not apply to faculty and staff.)
2.      Patrons are limited to two books per check out period.
3.      Patrons may check out books for a period of 14 days (two weeks).   (Holidays and unscheduled school closings are not included within the 14 day checkout period.)
4.      Patrons should report damage to library materials upon checkout to avoid being charged for the damage upon the return of the book.
 
Fines
Patrons with overdue library materials are charged $0.10 each day. Patrons are responsible for compensating the library for lost or damaged materials. (Prices may vary.)
 
Overdue Notices
Patron overdue lists are posted outside the library. Patron overdue notices will be sent home each progress report period. Note: Patron report cards will be held until library materials are returned and/or fines are paid.

Library Bill of Rights
The American Library Association affirms that all libraries are forums for information and ideas, and that the following basic policies should guide their services.
 
 
  1. Books and other library resources should be provided for the
interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the
community the library serves. Materials should not be
excluded because of the origin, background, or views of
those contributing to their creation.
 
  1. Libraries should provide materials and information
presenting all points of view on current and historical issues.
Materials should not be proscribed or removed because of
partisan or doctrinal disapproval.
 
  1. Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of
their responsibility to provide information and
enlightenment.
 
  1. Libraries should cooperate with all persons and groups
concerned with resisting abridgment of free expression and
free access to ideas.
 
  1. A person’s right to use a library should not be denied or
abridged because of origin, age, background, or views.
 
  1. Libraries which make exhibit spaces and meeting rooms
available to the public they serve should make such facilities
available on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or
affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use.
